15 Ways To Get More Followers On Twitter

Looking to add more followers to your twitter? Is it because you want to be popular? Maybe, you just like the feeling of having a lot of people read what you tweet? Or, it could be you’re looking to sell a product or service.

Whatever the case may be this list will help you get the friends you so badly need. Because why else would you be reading this?

Offer something for free! One of my favorite things to do is to offer new followers a free report or ebook.
Try testing different Avatars. Sometimes standing out in a crowd of tweets on a page is enough to have someone follow you.
Tweet photos. People love pictures.
Post a survey. You can create one for free at SocialToo
Don’t over tweet. No one likes a spammer. It’s ok to tweet regularly just be sure you have something worthy to tweet about. Tweet too much and followers may miss your tweets or may consider you a spammer and stop following.
Follow and comment on hot topics using the appropriate #hash tag. Adding to a conversation will help gain you recognition in your field.
Answer questions. Use twitter search to search terms related to your product or service and reply with an answer, solution or link that will help the poster.
Re-tweet interesting , informative and fun tweets.
Tweet blog posts. Lists (I.e…Top Ten) & how to’s are great for getting new followers.
Be controversial. Giving people something to talk about increase your chances for getting re-tweeted.
Promote your twitter! Add your Twitter info to your email signature, website, business card, forum signature, articles, blog… You get the point
Fill out your bio. Let people know who you are and what you do.
Ask other users to recommend you to their followers in exchange for you doing the same for them.
Following people who follow you is another way to gain new followers. How? Some people may reply to your tweets and when they do everyone that follows them will see it.
Utilize other social networks like StumbleUpon and digg to drive traffic to your website or blog. There they will see your twitter info and follow you.
